While I have a clear understanding that there is no such thing as a “perfect” mouthpiece, the “D. Mirvil 5” is probably the closest thing to it. As an active performer and teacher who emphasizes the entire range of the trombone, the mouthpiece provides me the versatility to perform with a brilliant sound in the upper tessitura in orchestral settings, while also providing a rich and euphonious sound in the lower register, which would be expected from a bass trombonist. The mouthpiece also enables me to perform technical passages with ease and beautifies my lyrical playing with a vocalist’s touch.
