Contra Bass Hardy Signature Mouthpiece
Chris asked us to design a mouthpiece based on the Baer MMVI CC tuba mouthpiece but with more mass, and a thicker warmer tone.  This new mouthpiece has exceptional  projection and ease of playing needed for bras band players.

Rim diameter 32.91mm, 1.295 inches Throat 8.16mm, .321 inches

Bass Tuba Hardy Signature Mouthpiece
A compliment to the Hardy CC line up with enough mass and comfort to hold together at the extremes without compromising flexibility and clarity.

Chris Hardy

I have been working with Giddings to try and create, in my opinion, the perfect mouthpiece for the Tuba, and what we created, is exactly that. I have been using the Chris Hardy Signature Model mouthpiece exclusively for 7 years, and here’s why.

I am known, primarily, as a BBb tuba player in the British brass band scene and play for the world famous Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band, as their Solo BBb Tuba player. The sound that I am able to create on this mouthpiece, is absolutely second to none. It gives me the ability to create any colour I need to, and allows me the freedom to be exactly the kind of player I want to be. It is incredible down in the lowest depths of the register, all the way to the very top, and the intonation is perfect throughout.

I originally designed this mouthpiece so I could easily go between different tubas, without having to change mouthpiece, and this absolutely fits the bill. It is incredible on any type of tuba, from BBb all the way to F, and I have used it in all kinds of ensembles, from chamber groups to symphony orchestras. Simply put, it’s the most versatile mouthpiece I have ever used. If you change instruments regularly, or you stick to one specifically, no matter what, this mouthpiece will do the trick. All aspects of it have been delicately balanced, like the weight around the back of the cup, the throat and rim diameter, and the cup depth. Everything has been fine-tuned to create something that just works, no matter what you throw at it. Mind blowing…

The steel is also kind to the chops, aiding stamina and endurance, and is also ideal for people with a brass or plate allergy, plus it never needs replating. Always a bonus! If you’re looking for a new mouthpiece, then give this a try, it was definitely the best decision I made.
