Bayamo Tuba Mouthpiece – The Original Giant, Still the King

Inner Rim Diameter: 1.320" | Throat: .332" | Cup Depth: Very Deep Funnel
Crafted in premium surgical-grade stainless steel – harder, faster, lifetime tough. The Bayamo was the very first monster mouthpiece we ever created — and it's still the flagship beast in the lineup for good reason. Named after the ferocious violent wind that roars off the land along Cuba's south coast near the Bight of Bayamo, this very large CC/BBb design unleashes an enormous, earth-shaking sound that supports the biggest ensembles with effortless authority. Think PT-88-sized rim comfort, but upgraded with a much deeper funnel cup and massive .332" throat for thunderous volume, velvet-rich low-end depth, and thick resonant tone that fills concert halls without breaking a sweat. Balanced, in-tune, and surprisingly playable — great articulation, secure slotting, and dynamic control make it ideal for advanced players who demand huge output on those low excerpts that need to roar. Not oversized and unmanageable — just perfectly engineered power.

Why the Bayamo remains a legend:

  • Enormous sound output — Massive projection and low-end weight that anchors the largest orchestras, bands, and brass sections
  • Velvet-rich tone — Deep funnel + open throat delivers thick, dark, luxurious lows with incredible resonance
  • Balanced & playable — Huge but controllable — excellent intonation, clean attacks, and easy response even at full throttle
  • Low-register monster — Perfect for demanding pedal passages, big excerpts, and any moment that calls for overwhelming volume
  • Giddings heritage — The original large stainless steel powerhouse, built with 25+ years of expertise and unmatched durability

If you're an advanced tubist chasing that rare combination of gigantic sound, rich velvet depth, and real-world playability — the Bayamo is the one that started it all. Violent power. Velvet soul. Total command. Grab the Bayamo and lets shake the foundation!

The first rehearsal was with a 60 piece 'community' band that dynamically starts at bombastic and goes up from there. I couldn't tell much about tone but, the mouthpiece had a great feel. The next night was with a college symphonic wind orchestra in a large hall with a wonderful sound. The Pines of Rome which has a B to pedal F was MUCH cleaner on the Bayamo and with a nice round tone. Previous mouthpiece was a Bach Megatone 7 which I still like but, the Bayamo is more steps up. I can drop my jaw more comfortably and still have plenty of punch when needed. (bombastic?) I was concerned that the larger throat might be too 'airy' but, for me, that is not the case. Also I love the rim - less aggressive than the Bach. I could go on but, I won't ,just that I won't be returning the mouthpiece to you. NOW - any thoughts for my Alexander Kaiser with the European receiver?Thank You, albie.
