"Giddings and Webster have
come up with one fantastic orchestral mouthpiece. This piece has proved to me that we should never stop looking ahead in our
search for the perfect
tuba sound. Anything that I can do on my brass pieces are intensified with the stainless, sound intensity,
articulation, clarity, it has it
all. This mouthpiece should be especially useful for those playing larger horns that need that extra boost. I'm
very sensitive to certain
silver plating, so I was a bit apprehensive about playing on stainless steel. To this point I've had absolutely no reaction
to the piece, in fact, I
really prefer the smoothness of the stainless over silver or gold. It's just plain easier on the chops, and it will
never change, no replating
ever....The finished product is just magnificent to look at and the tolerances from piece to piece is fabulous. This aspect
is especially critical to
me because I know the shanks are the proper size for the horn and the rims from C tuba to F tuba will match exactly. There
is also an F tuba piece in
the works that will go hand in hand with the orchestral C."

"Actually
I had been hoping some day, some one, would make a stainless steel mouthpiece, as I already knew of the stainless steel
pleasures. My father had a
machinist friend make one for me in 1961 after my acidic body chemistry ate through every plating known to man. I loved the feel
of the steel against my
lips, but eventually I went to a different size - and back to brass. The G&W is a dream come true. The super smooth feel
is wonderful. The response
is quicker than brass and the inner design of the piece helps focus the sound with razor sharp clarity while still producing a
warm dark tone. Compared to my
original Model-T the G&W is a Ferrari.

"Results are what I am after when searching for a mouthpiece. Clarity, sonority and richness
of sound are obvious
qualities that I find are present in this Giddings and Webster stainless steel mouthpiece. The high quality, engineering and
workmanship that has gone
into the development of this piece is exactly what I have been looking for. Air efficiency, reliability, accuracy and
presence of sound in either
a supporting bass line or for a solo line are all attributes found in the Giddings and Webster. For extreme dynamics,
flexibility of tone color and
blending capabilities, this mouthpiece has all these features and more.
I have been very impressed with the
professionalism, integrity and
expertise of the Giddings and Webster Company and am happy to have had the opportunity to collaborate with them in the design of
this
mouthpiece."

"Actually
I have been playing the G&W Chinook for more than a year or so now. I have tried most of the G&W bass trombone line as well as most of the other brands. There are may very fine mouthpieces out there and I feel they all have something to offer but the Chinook produced something for me in terms of tone color that was quite special. I do a variety of work in multitude of styles and I feel I can cover pretty much all the bases I need to with the Chinook. And I really like the feel of the stainless steel on my face. The Chinook allows me to plant my feet firmly in the middle of the road and take a good, big step to either side when needed.
The only slight frustration felt was the lack of ability to move more enough slow velocity, high flow air through the extreme low notes that pop up all too frequently these days. Ivan and I bounced ideas around for quite some time about creating something more open on the bottom without losing the basic tone color I liked so much.
One day Ivan shared a brainstorm with me that sounding promising and sent one down for me to try. This piece has the same cup and rim as the Chinook but with a considerably more open throat and backbore.
The results were not what either of us would have predicted but pretty much everything I wanted and more. Everyone I have played it for has felt there is more sound, sooner and a darker, mellower tone with abundant core and projection. What can I say, I am thrilled!

" After months of
collaboration Jon and Giddings & Webster have developed a new mouthpiece, which has incredible response in all registers, very
comfortable rim and cup
for clarity, ease in playing, large interval leaps and gives Jon easy access to his wide range of colors and articulations. The
Sass model features a
balanced weight in order to allow overtones to resonate freely – therefore allowing the tone to be open, clean and clear. "This
mouthpiece is easy to play
and I am free to play in which ever ensemble I'm working with at the time. A few of my tuba friends have tried it and were
seriously blown away !!! "
Many thanks, guys!"

"Oh Man! - - I'll tell you already.....I used this mouthpiece last week on quintet tour with my "pre-war" Alex. 6v. F
tuba, the tone was more
centered than ever and response was so much quicker, I found myself having to "hold back" on the amount of air needed to produce
an initial response.
Also - - - tonight with the Wichita Symphony using the same "Bora" mouthpiece on my 5/4 Rudy Meinl CC, doing Prok. Romeo and
Juliette, the control of
dynamics both loud and soft was unbelievable!! Able to "bury the orchestra or match the PPP soli w/ the basses" as needed -
- what an AWESOME
mouthpiece."

"Ivan,
Well, I have to say I got a rousing thumbs up from not only the other tuba players, but others in the woodwind section. Yesterday
we read a piece that had a tuba/piccolo duet section (don't know why, just a novelty I guess).
Anyway, I got comments from several people who just came up to say Wow, you sounded good today.
When I asked what they heard different, most said I don't how to say it exactly, but you sounded clearer and fuller to me.
That was good news, especially coming from woodwind players who were noticing a different sound coming from the back.
Today we recorded about 12 anthems and a couple of new marches. I was only tuba for most of it. The recording guys played back
the tape for me, it sounded good. Really focused, and full of core.
That's as good as it gets for compliments in our band.
So, I think it's a keeper."

"I purchased a G&W mouthpiece at the International Trombone Festival in New Orleans. I purchased the titanium
mouthpiece after playing
on a Stork 5S for years and I know that this is the best mouthpiece that I've ever played on. All aspects of my trombone playing
(range, flexibility,
articulations, ENDURANCE, etc.) are all much better than ever. If any of my students want to change their mouthpiece,
the G&W mouthpiece will
be the first that I recommend. There is NO honeymoon period with this mouthpiece, it just keeps getting better. You
guys do great work and I
would like to personally thank you for making such a great mouthpiece."

"The stainless steel feels amazing on my face and the mouthpiece plays wonderfully. I can't
imagine finding anything else to play on that I would change to, unless it was some other mouthpiece you make or a custom piece
from your shop. When I play I don't even really notice the mouthpiece on my face(funny way to put it) as it feels very comfortable
and natural and I have had many compliments regarding the quality of sound I get with it.

"This is the mouthpiece I’ve been waiting years for, the response is clean, the sound is pure and the stainless steel
feels fantastic. This
mouthpiece produces the results I always wanted to get out of a “heavy or weighted” mouthpiece but could never get the sound I
wanted. Great work!

"I've been using Giddings and Webster, Stainless Steel mouthpieces on my BBb and Eb tubas since
they first came out, and
just recently the Alan Baer signature CC model in Titanium. The biggest thing I notice with all the models I've tried is
that they let me do whatever I
want with my horns. I get maximum feedback from the horn with no interference from the mouthpiece - it's like taking out the
middleman.
Articulations and slurs are easier and cleaner than with any brass mouthpiece I've used. Also, they are much warmer on
the face, especially the
titanium! The titanium mouthpiece is really special. It's (my) sound is even from the bottom to the top of my range
and is more focused
too. I highly recommend the Giddings and Webster line of mouthpieces. You won't be
disappointed!"

"When I first tried my new G&W Alan Baer Orchestral mouthpiece, I was tempted to blow the
way I do on a brass
mouthpiece. And the mouthpiece won!? You (and I) have to remember that this is an extremely efficient mouthpiece. The slightest
bit of air will start the
lips vibrating and this transfers IMMEDIATELY to the instrument. I've never had a mouthpiece do that before!! And the high volume
playing is easier as well.
The sound doesn't break up. Another interesting thing is that it's hard to miss notes - as weird as that sounds. It's as if the
mouthpiece is taking me by
the hand - or lips, as it were - and not allowing me to wander off. Ivan and Alan have developed a truly state-of-the-art
mouthpiece. Knowing both
gentlemen, I am not at all surprised!"

"I had heard so much about this mouthpieces and so many people were singing their praises and I
thought that there is no
way that they could be as good as everyone keeps saying they are. So I was a little wary about getting them, but I
order most of their lineup to
give them a try. I figured that I might find one mouthpiece that they have and I could send the rest of them back.
When I got them I liked and
kept ALL OF THEM!
I really love the sound that they put out, it's very
thick and clear. It felt
like it cleaned up some articulation issues that I was fighting on another moutpiece and they reaaly do seem to project like
crazy. The mouthpieces
feel very effortless to play, they have a great flow to them which I haven't felt on other mouthpieces, it really seems like what
they talked about on their
website about the designs were TRUE, not just smoke and mirrors. I've played these for lots of different people who play
lots of different instruments
and all of them have like the GW mouthpieces better than the others. I have played them in solos, orchestra, brass quintet,
brass band, tuba quartet
and concert band and in all setting there is a mouthpiece in their line that fits the sound and feel of what I wanted. I am
very pleased with these
mouthpieces and will continue to check out what new stuff they will keep surprising us with. So for me the end product is
really what were are all
trying the improve and I feel that these Mouthpieces really do make a big difference in the bottom line."

"Received the mouthpiece today. Outstanding...feels just like the Laskey 30H, but, blows it away in terms of response
throughout the
range. Al was right. I'll use it tomorrow night for the Berlioz concert."

"Hello, I received the "Caver" tuba mouthpiece and I'm amazed by what it can do. I find I
can better judge intonation
while playing since the stainless steel mouthpiece doesn't vibrate back on the face in the way a brass one does. Without
that misleading harmonic
vibration I can focus on the sound of a note rather than the feel of it. I have never played a mouthpiece that provides as
much projection while still
delivering a rich, fundamental core sound. The notes slot well and yet there is still great flexibility which is a
combination I've never experienced
before. And it's comfortable, too. I've been searching for a mouthpiece with these characteristics for years-the G&W has
them
all."

" I received the Euros large shank tenor trombone mouthpiece yesterday. It is very different in
response from any moutpiece
I have ever tried. All the comments on your website are completely true. The mouthpiece produces a richer sound immediately with
easier articulations. The
rim design is very comfortable and extremely smooth. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the mouthpiece is the response in the
extreme high and low
register. The clarity, resonance, and richness of sound in the upper register were truly impressive, with easy response at all
dynamic levels. The mouthpiece
responds extremely well with very little pressure on the embouchure. The rich overtones are extremely good. The low register and
pedal tones were equally
impressive, very open, resonant, rich and powerful. I have not encountered any other mouthpiece which displayed such response
throughout all registers. The
mouthpiece also looks sharp with the highly polished finish. Thank you for a terrific mouthpiece design."

" I will be doing a solo tour of the U.S. next fall. I am an endorsing artist for B&S tubas
now. I will be using your mouthpiece with a new PT15. Great combo! Great product!
Thanks. Ivan.
